Weather Outlook for Sunday into Sunday Night
A new storm system is expected to begin moving into Colorado from the northwest late tonight, dragging a cold front through the region Sunday evening. This will bring an increase in clouds to the state on Sunday, with a chance for precipitation developing along the Continental Divide by early Sunday morning. The chance for precipitation will gradually spread east across the high country during the day, before working across portions of the eastern plains by Sunday evening behind the cold front. At this time, the greatest impact across southeast Colorado is expected over the central and southwest mountains, and across the Pikes Peak and Palmer Divide region, where light to moderate snow accumulations will be possible by Monday morning. Strong gusty winds will also develop across the state behind the cold front Sunday night, likely impacting areas that receive snow, making travel difficult into Monday morning due to blowing and drifting snow. Persons planning travel in these areas should remain weather alert. Visit weather.gov/pub for the latest warnings and/or advisories. Visit cotrip.org for the latest road conditions. Elsewhere across the southeast plains, areas of mainly light rain or snow will develop behind the cold front Sunday night, mainly across the far eastern plains, with the Southern Interstate 25 corridor, from Pueblo southward, expected to remain mostly dry, with only a few sprinkles or snow flurries possible.
